creates collages using them, and doing so, he places them into an independent artistic space which is isolated from the external world. Thanks to his special themes, his subjects have gained symbolic meaning in his paintings: they point out human nature and draw attention on our animalistic side.

Gergő Tornyi’s pastose brushwork resembles the paintings of the early-20th-century artists, with the bold use of wild and vivid colors, his pictures reminds the viewer of the works of the Eight or the former artists of the Art Colony in Kecskemét. However, his topics are completely different and quite rough, even flabbergasting: he studies and paints raw chicken wings and cattle heads. He varies and abstarcts them, 

Gergő TORNYI

He was born in 1990 in Berettyóújfalu, he obtained his bachelor’s degree at the Department of Visual Arts at the Eszterházy Károly College in Eger in 2012. Since the same year, he has been continuing his master’s studies at the Department of Visual and Environmental Studies. his masters are Erzsébet F. Balogh, Tamás Kopasz. As the grantee of the University of Eger, he had the opportunity to spend half a year in Yogyakarta, Indonesia in 2013. He exhibited at group exhibitions in 2011 at Hotel Flóra in Eger and also at Ráday Könyvesház Gallery in Budapest, in 2012 at Karinthy Saloon, Budapest and at Templom Gallery, Eger and at the exhibition of the art colony in Lăzarea, Romania as well and in 2013, at the Salgótarjáni Tavaszi Tárlat (Spring Exhibition Salgótarján) and with Anita Kántor together, at Gallery Katamsi in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
